The movie page

All the movies are on this page. Most of these have been shot with my G3  except the odd timelapse that was done with an old camcorder.

Im still new to encoding these but I do get around 1/6 the source file size. Feedback regarding file size and such would be nice.

These are all encoded as DivX so to play the files you will *need* to get the codec at http://www.divx.com/ .

Alternately you should also be able to use the open source version called Xvid at
http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ .

For the movies on the page right click the picture and "Save link as".

The Robo One flat walker race. As adept as these are you would think that simply walking a few feet on a flat floor would be a cakewalk right?

Sorry if the camera jiggles a bit I started laughing towards the end :)

Truffle Pig! The fastest (by far) linefollower at the 2004 ECRG. This was a run that Nicolas did for me specifically, although not it's best run it was still quick. In the competition it only needed one pickup.

A trio of garter snakes, there were tons of them around so I picked up a few and tossed them in a bucket (up to this point I had hardly ever seen them before). They are amazingly agile, two of them flipped their tails over the edge and slithered backwards to get out. Grudgingly I kept the last one for a bit to show the others at work. While I was walking back he wrapped around my wrist and kept a fairly strong grip for such a slender snake. He happily unwrapped himself and took off when I set him down in the field.

Ender was actually not working very well the sensors were set way too sensitive and it usually ended up charging the edge of the ring or following around it. That has since been fixed...

A head build using a VPM (Vibrating pager motor) The circuit that I used to make this can be found here. Also a video of this in action can be seen here. The video was taken earlier today,  the quarter in the video is for size reference and the shadow of the coin gives an indication of the direction of the sun. This circuit will not lock but will continue to scan back and forth.

A flower built for a fundraising auction in support of the arts and music program at the local collage. The frame is made mostly from 1/8th inch stainless steel rod that was silver soldered together. The colored pieces are made from an expanded PVC material known as Sintra. There are four polycarbonate balls in the center that softly light up at random intervals.

See a brief movie of it (600KB).

The flower stands about 20' Tall.
